I. Introduction of Baked Cheetos/Kurkure Corn Curls
The cheetos/kurkure/corn curls are light in texture, crisp in taste, irregular in shape and bend freely. This featured snack food is made directly from corn grits.
The corn grits are heated to about 150 degrees in 60 seconds in a collet extruder (neither a twin nor single screw extruder). The heated corn material is subjected to instantaneous high pressure when it pass through the disc. In a very short time (1S), due to the instantaneous pressure, the temperature rises from around 150 degrees to around 240 degrees. At the same time, the material is extruded from the disc, and the volume expands rapidly due to the pressure difference. With the kurkure/cheetos extruder, the whole process, from raw materials to semi-finished corn sticks, only takes no more 2 minutes. The semi-finished cheetos/kurkure/corn curls are conveyed into the oven. Depending on the output and desired texture, the oven is designed as single or multi-layer. By setting the roasting temperature and roasting time, the corn curls are properly roasted. Finally, the production is completed through the seasoning and packing processes.
