The single-screw extruder pushes the material through a screw that gradually increases from fine to thick and the pitch from wide to narrow. At present, the single screw extruder produced in our country basically uses the screw with shallow thread height, and the speed is 300-400r/min. It can produce high grinding and high shear forces, and the time of the grain raw material remaining in the barrel is very short. 10-20s, the material temperature before ejecting up to 130-140℃.
The twin-screw extruder has a pair of counter-rotating or co-rotating screws that are continuously engaged with each other, and uses the principle of positive displacement to forcibly transport materials.
In the process of material transportation, the pressure reflux is rarely formed, which can make the local pressure rise sharply, accelerate the expansion process, and obtain high output.
Extrusion technology characteristics
1) Improve practical quality, easy to store
The use of bulking technology can make corn and sorghum containing more cellulose and vitamins become puffy and soft, and the Maillard reaction produced in the bulking process increases the color, aroma and taste of food. Thus, the practical quality is improved, and the food has the unique flavor of light, crisp and rich aroma.

The extrusion process is usually a high temperature, high pressure, short time process, which results in limited material handling and therefore retains almost all of the nutrients in the raw material in the final product. At the same time, the high-temperature short-time process can still reduce harmful enzymes and microorganisms and other adverse product factors.
3) Wide applicability of raw materials and wide variety of products
A wide variety of raw materials can be processed. Not only can the grains, potatoes, beans and other grains deep processing, coarse grains can also do fine, make exquisite snacks; It can also process fruits and vegetables, spices and some animal proteins. When producing puffed snacks, you only need to change the raw materials and molds, and use the same extruder to produce products of different shapes.
4) High production efficiency and low production cost
The production capacity of foreign large twin-screw extruders reaches tens of tons per hour, and the operation is simple. Compared with traditional cooking methods, the use of modern extrusion technology to process products significantly reduces time consumption, energy consumption, labor and plant occupancy.
