After the extruder screw stops, the die head needs to be removed. Note that the extruder is still very hot at this time, and the disassembly personnel should wear heat-insulating gloves. Sometimes there is residual pressure in the machine. When the die head bolts are removed, the pressure in the machine is suddenly released sharply, which will pose a potential danger to the operator. Therefore, the pressure should be released at this time until the pressure disappears completely before removing the die head. Then start the screw at a low speed and push out the remaining material in the barrel with the discharge open. Sometimes, in order to clean it up, some dry and hard materials can be fed in to achieve the purpose of cleaning the screw groove.

When the material can no longer be pushed out of the screw, it means that the logistics in the barrel has been basically cleaned. This is the self-cleaning function of the twin screw, which is more convenient to clean than the single screw. If there is still some material at the die head, you can use a high-pressure gun to sweep it away, and it will be cleaned quickly.

If the product is a high-viscosity material, the screw needs to be removed for cleaning. After the self-cleaning is completed, all the switch valves of the power supply, water source, and air source should be closed, and the parts that should be disassembled should be disassembled for cleaning and inspection. If necessary, the barrel should also be cleaned in sections. When disassembling the parts of the extruder, do not use too much force or pry hard to avoid damaging the parts of the extruder, especially the screw. Once it is seriously damaged, it will affect the subsequent operation. When the screw and the barrel are bitten, it is not allowed to hit the barrel and the screw directly with metal. A wooden block or rubber must be placed in the middle.

All removed parts should be placed in a special container for cleaning and preservation to prevent loss.

When cleaning the die head, porous plate, screw and barrel, soak them in a large container, and it is better to have a high-pressure cleaning device. Be especially careful when cleaning the die hole and other precision parts of the die head, and do not scratch the surface of the parts and the inner diameter of the orifice. After cleaning, dry it in time. If it is not used for a long time, it can be sealed with edible oil (including bolts, nuts, etc.) to prevent it from rusting and make it convenient for assembly next time.
